Next Stop for DJ BusRider is:

"PROVENANCE", Kevin Peterson's debut solo show in Los Angeles at C.A.V.E. Gallery

Kevin Peterson's current series of mixed media acrylic and oil paintings depict children in urban landscapes framed by walls of graffiti - portraying the contrast of the untainted, young and innocent against a backdrop of a worn, ragged, and defiled world. Each piece is an exceptional and stunning work of art - perfectly rendered, uniquely textured and distinctly assembled with panels of corrugated metal.

"These paintings are about trauma, fear and loneliness and the strengththat it takes to survive and thrive. The work is about the varied journeys we take through life. It is about growing up and living in a world that is broken. Support versus restraint, bondage versus freedom, and tension versus slack are all themes that I often visit.

My work deals with isolation, loneliness and longing teamed with a level of optimistic hope. Issues of race and the division of wealth have arisen in my recent work. This work deals with the idea of rigid boundaries, the hopeful breakdown of such restrictions, as well as questions about the forces that orchestrate our behavior."

Kevin Peterson was born in 1979 in Elko, Nevada. His childhood included stints in Nevada, Michigan and Washington. Kevin moved to Texas in 1996 and received degrees in Fine Art and Psychology from Austin College in Sherman in 2001. Kevin now makes his home in Houston, Texas where he works out of Winter Street Studios.

"Provenance" at C.A.V.E. Gallery marks Kevin's third solo exhibition. His artwork has received notable recognition including the Hunting Art Prize Finalist in 2011 and 2008, "Best of Show" at the Bayou City Art Festival in 2010, and "Best Emerging Artist" at the Main St. Fort Worth Arts Festival in 2009.

GALLERY 2: Euth & Eatcho

EUTH
"Damaged"

"My work negotiates contemporary city life, exploring a lexicon of images that are over-determined and self-impeded by existing cultural meaning. I use a loose combination of graffiti, illustration and found objects to re-examine and explore existing visual codes through installation. I try to capture the sense of isolation and bombardment I often feel confronted with while in transit within my own city."

EATCHO
"Confining All My Chaos"

"In this current series I am confining all my chaos within familiar figures, giving them both battle armor and scars. I make the work somewhat chaotic for I feel chaotic. I depict characters within the work and experience a story unfold ... reason within the chaos."

Resident DJs Busrider & MrNumberOnderful will be your selectors for the evening.
For his debut US exhibition, Dutch artist "SIT" returns to a bold black and white palette, with his new series titled 'NOIR'- illustrating the malicious blackness gnawing away at the edges of our sense of beauty. Examining the troubled relation between the animal kingdom and mankind, SIT's work is focused on the magnificent beauty of the beast and the way it is used to serve the vanity that is intricate to humanity.

The 'NOIR' collection is a haunting series that is simultaneously sexy and morbid. The sensual textures of fur and feathers are juxtaposed with pale animal skulls and soft female curves - representing the perverse 'need' to strip animals of their skins, and exposing the disturbing reality of the suffering and extinction of species to satisfy human narcissism.

C.A.V.E. Gallery presents "Bird's Eye View", featuring new works by: JIM DARLING (Los Angeles)
Jim Darling's gallery work ranges from detailed ink drawings to layered woodwork with illustrative painted skins. Always having an eye out for found objects and materials, Jim's new series "Bird's Eye View" features uniquely carved woodwork embellished with a stylized aerosol and acrylic technique. Each piece is a 3-dimensional glimpse ofintricately patterned rooftop landscapes balanced by the expansive vista of the open horizon. The work captures the imagination and instills a feeling of curiosity as one peers into the playful mosaic of these urban landscapes.
The evenings mixmasters are resident DJ BusRider (SphereCo) & special guest DJ Kid Gusto. Max Neutra will also be the live painter for the night.

APRIL 2nd through MAY 1st
The April exhibition at C.A.V.E. Gallery showcases a collection of work
that embodies a spiritual presence in an earth-bound plane.
This show features an exciting group of artists who are consumed
by the creative struggle. These souls are not at rest.
The artwork is not created to distract from reality - but to tap into a different sphere of consciousness - one that illuminates, implies mortality
and triggers memories.

Over the past year, Paul has taken his artwork in an exciting and bold new direction. It began with the idea of incorporating his woodworking skills and interest in antique mechanical toys with his storytelling ability and narrative structure used to create a series of paintings - and has evolved into an adventurous, interactive and unforgettable style.

Paul's ambitious new works are skillfully painted and layered with hand-cut wood gears on custom birch panels that encourage a kinetic interaction with the gallery patron. This exciting show will feature a series of paintings that are inspired by a fictional yet meaningful narrative that celebrates the shedding of older habits and styles, and honors the revolution of originality.
